as foretold in this month’s newsletter, i have made a little zine from an essay that’s been floating around for some time now. it is your classic, old-school, black and white, stapled, cut and paste, typewritten affair, a sort of aesthetic homage to these guys, who likely inspired my earliest subconscious interest in conspiracy theory.
if you know, you know. either way, this project came out of a desire i had while finishing my book manuscript last year (which focuses on similar themes among others) to write something about conspiracy thinking, reality, and paranoia as well as a response to the ways in which Q Anon was being breathlessly covered at the time. unable to find a place for it and unsure whether it was even “done,” i shelved it until deciding that i wanted to make something tangible during the unbearable process of seeking book publication. so, this is that.
some red thread will be added before mailing so that you can connect the clues yourself–perhaps on your very own conspiracy cork board of belief. these were cheap to make and will be cheap to mail, so i’m selling them by donation, proceeds beyond covering shipping to benefit two causes important to me, split 50/50:
first, the NW Abortion Access Fund, which has just become even more crucial in my region under Idaho’s near-total abortion ban. they put money directly into funding the basic needs like travel, lodging, recovery time and more that make safe abortion accessible for everyone.
second, a dear friend–one of my queer elders and poetic/political inspirations–is trying to get stable after an injury and job loss and then get out of North Idaho, where the burdens of living with such overt white supremacy are just too much. he deserves to thrive and start over and i hope we can all pull together to help make it happen.
